Administrator FAQs
Access to the administrative features, including student log data reports, are controlled by an employee of your institution who is designated as the on-site support person (referenced as the DSP). MedU will redirect all requests for access to your institution's DSP as they can validate these access requests.
How do I find out who my DSP is?
If you do not know who your Designated Support Person is for your institution, you can email MedU support to request the contact information for the DSP at your institution.
How do I get the student Log Data reports?
In order to have access to the log data you will need to have the DSP (Designated Support Person) for your institution set you up to have Log Data Administrator access to these reports.
Visit http://www.med-u.org and select "login to cases" from the upper right hand corner of the screen. Log in using your MedU username and password. Once you are logged in, you will see that the page has opened to a "Decision" tab, on which is a link that says "Reports." Select this link. You may be prompted to choose which course you want to view reports for. Otherwise, you will just be asked which report you would like to view. Most of the time you will want to see the "Individual Reports" which shows the list of students who are working on the cases at the time.
Once you are in the individual logs, you can set the date at the top of the page. This will show only students who have worked on the cases during the dates that are set. You can also search for an individual student by name or email.
You will see a list of the students who are using the cases. You can scroll to the right to see the cases that they are working on. If you click the "i" icon next to a student's name it will pull up a report for just that student. You can see the time spent on each case, when they did it, and if they completed the cases or not.
At the upper right hand section of the individual reports page, there is an export option. You can export the entire report into Excel or Word to manipulate and/or print.
Furthermore, if you want just a report on one individual student, after clicking the "i" icon next to there name, in the new individual report for that one student, there is a PDF icon in the upper right hand corner. If you click that, you can print the PDF for that one student.
Students need to self register using their institutional email addresses. They will visit http://www.med-u.org and select "Register" from the upper right hand corner. They will be prompted to enter their information after which a confirmation email will be sent to the student. Once the student opens the confirmation email and follows the directions provided, they can then access the MedU cases at any time.
You will need to have the DSP email MedU support telling us the new email domain. We will then add it to your institution's account so that anyone with that email domain can now register and access the cases.
How do I get the exams/bank--questions about scoring?
CLIPP and fmCASES both maintain a large bank of multiple choice exam questions and standard exams for those courses. Access to the exam bank and the standard exams are included in all institutional subscriptions. For security reasons, the exam information will only be released to one user at an institution and that user is responsible for maintaining the security of the exam bank. In order to gain access to the exams or question banks, you need to make sure that you are designated as the authorized Final Exam Question user. Your Designated Support person (DSP) can designate the FEQ User or tell you who the existing FEQ user is at your institution. The FEQ user may email examscoring@i-intime.org to request the bank or the exam.
Once you receive the exam bank, you can use it to create tailored exams for your students. You can print them out or upload them into blackboard, etc. We cannot score the exam for you if you chose to make your own exam.
If you use our standard exams, you are welcome to use our $250 exam and scoring fee--we will send you an exam which covers all of the cases from the course. We will send instructions as well as bubble sheets for administering the exam. You are responsible for shipping the completed answer forms back to us, and we will score them for you and email you the results and four electronic score reports.
For additional questions about the exam or exam bank, please email examscoring@i-intime.org.
If you need instructor access (access to the cases and the password protected instructors' area of the MedU website) or log data access (access to the cases and the password protected instructors' area of the MedU website as well as to the log data reports to track students' progress) you will need to have the DSP for your institution add you to have that access.
If you are the DSP trying to give a user this access, visit http://sub.med-u.org/login. Login using your MedU Username and Password. You will be told which courses you can provide instructor access to. Select the course you wish to add an instructor to. You will be prompted to enter the individuals' name and email address to have either instructor access (access to the cases and the password protected instructor section of the MedU website) or Log Data access (access to log date reports to track your students in addition to access to the cases and the password protected instructor section of the MedU website). Once you do, an email will go to that individual telling them that they have been added to the course. Directions for the use of the cases and reports will be provided in the email.
