MedU
As a new
academic year approaches, most current MedU subscriptions are set to
expire on June 30, 2010. Renewing MedU subscribers, and those new to
MedU, will need to submit their subscriptions online for the 2010-2011
academic year prior to this date to avoid interruption to case access
and/or to gain access. And with the close of the fmCASES'
pilot-test phase occurring on June 30th as well, those using fmCASES now
will need to subscribe to MedU to continue to access fmCASES beyond
June 30th.
Subscribing in 2010-2011: Things You Need
to Know
Follow the
link to learn how MedU saves your clerkship money and commit to renewing your current
MedU institutional subscriptions or commit to subscribing to MedU for
the first time. In making a commitment, the following are things you
need to know:- MedU operates on a subscription model through the Institute for Innovative
Technology In Medical Education (iInTIME). Our subscription fee has
not increased since the inception of iInTIME and will not increase in
the 2010-2011 academic year. Explore the MedU cost calculator to obtain a cost estimate for your
institutional subscription.
- Access is
controlled by institutional email domain enabling all learners at your
institution to access our virtual patient cases and to experience these
valuable teaching tools.
- Institutional
subscriptions are for one year with an assumed academic start date of
July 1. If your academic year starts at a time other than July 1, we
will work with you to accommodate your needs.
- Subscriptions
are submitted online. The online institutional subscriber agreement is
expected to be available by April 1, 2010. Should you need to
subscribe before this date please e-mail us!
- Cost-saving
bundling is available when subscribing to more than one set of virtual
patient cases. In order to qualify for the bundled cost savings,
you must submit your subscription online and 60 days in advance of your
academic start date. Read more about bundling.
- User
support is available to institutional subscribers throughout the
academic year to assist you and your students when help is needed. To
contact user support, please e-mail medusupport@i-intime.org.
We encourage you to reach
out to clerkship directors who are current users of MedU. Their
experiences with our virtual patient cases and modules will provide
valuable insight to help you effectively integrate these tools into your
curriculum as well as how to identify potential sources for
subscription funds. Please look for next month's newsletter for stronger
guidance on the online subscription process.
